“Pressure is a privilege. Embrace it. It means you have something you care about and something worth fighting for.”

I started in my family's restaurant when I was ten. Since then I've built businesses in food, cars and hospitality, raised £130M alongside founders across more than 150 funding rounds, and advised people whose names you'd know.

I've also lost everything. I took outside funding I wasn't ready for, and in 2018 the business failed. I couldn't pay my phone bill. In 2019 we moved to Spain. I was out of work for six months, then took a social media job and started to rebuild.

In 2025 I thought I was burnt out. It was a rare bone marrow cancer. I didn't work for months. I'm still in treatment, and I'm building again.

Along the way I've built brands and products, raised capital, written the financial models, run the marketing, built the reporting, written the operations guides and moved my family to Spain, where I've lived and worked since 2019. Nine Bar puts all of it in one place.

An espresso machine pushes water through the coffee at nine bars of pressure. Below that, you get wet coffee. The pressure is what makes it.

I grew up in restaurants, so that's how I think about it. If you're under pressure, you're carrying something worth carrying. The work is learning to hold it without breaking.
